Map

In this page, we wish to present the geographical distribution of the sites treated by the GREPURE project, through an interactive map. Each point located on the map represents an archaeological site that has offered Phoenician-Punic material. Much of this archeological documentation is coming through ancient excavations, the GREPURE team having the opportunity to contribute to their revision. However, we also present various unpublished sets of material, discovered by the members of our team in the course of the project. We have developed the research from these archaeological items.

By clicking on a point of the map, you will be able to obtain more information on each site under investigation. Moreover, each site’s page contains its own sets of data sheets, which are scientific documents revised by our team members, organized by chronology. Indeed, each data sheet is an academic publication indexed with a DOI number, in order for colleagues and students to be able to cite these documents and add them to their list of references.

For example, if you wish to know more about the contact between the Punic city of Gadir and Olympia during the 4th century BC, click on the page tab “400-300 BC”, and you will find several data sheets presenting Punic material from the Strait of Gibraltar.

Feel free to download our data sheets and scientific documents, but, please, do not forget to cite their respective authors.
